Substance Abuse Policy

Document No: CIC-PLSA-2401 Revision: C2 Revision Date: 01.09.2025

Substance abuse impairs employees' rational thinking and actions, places additional responsibility on colleagues and may lead to workplace accidents, poor job performance and unsatisfactory service to clients.

For this reason, Caspian Industrial Construction LLC has established this policy in order to protect both its employees and clients and to provide a safe and healthy working environment for everyone.

This policy applies to all contract employees, including paid interns, volunteers, part-time, seasonal and permanent employees, as well as visitors, external suppliers of goods and services, and clients.

The use, possession, manufacture or distribution of illegal drugs and/or alcoholic beverages during company activities is prohibited.

Where permitted by applicable legislation, Caspian Industrial Construction LLC reserves the right to conduct drug and alcohol testing in order to ensure compliance with this policy.

This policy is intended to meet all legal and/or governmental requirements relating to substance abuse in the workplace and describes the disciplinary actions that may be taken where an employee receives a positive substance abuse test result.

Reasonable Suspicion

If employees witness illegal behavior or physical impairment by colleagues, direct supervisors or managers resulting from the abuse of prohibited substances or narcotic drugs in the workplace, they must report their reasonable suspicion to the HR Department.

The employee concerned may then be referred for drug testing or an official investigation.

Factors that may give rise to reasonable suspicion include:

  1. Odors associated with alcohol or drugs;
  2. Impaired or slurred speech;
  3. Unstable physical movements;
  4. Dilated or watery eyes;
  5. Illegal or inappropriate behavior;
  6. Explosive or irregular emotional behavior.

Compliance and Disciplinary Measures

Caspian Industrial Construction LLC does not employ persons who use narcotic drugs or who have previously used them and have a documented record of such use.

Any employee who violates this policy will be subject to disciplinary measures set out in CIC-MS02-2401 Internal Disciplinary Rules and may be referred to the relevant law enforcement authorities for appropriate action.
